In collaboration with Play Expert & Futurist, Yesim Kunter, we developed a workshop exploring Play & Vulnerability, piloted at The Hospital Club. This workshop uses play theory to support participants on a creative and playful journey to discover their own vulnerabilities, and by doing so, develop ways to learn from and overcome them.

To be vulnerable you need:
Courage—tell the story of who you are with your whole heart
Compassion – be kind to yourself first
Connection – be willing to let go of who you thought you should be, to be who you really are

-Brene Brown, TED Talk, The Power of Vulnerability

We have developed play exercises for participants to experience vulnerability and reflect on themselves from the viewpoints of their mental, physical and emotional selves and within an environmental context of home and work lives.  These exercises allow participants deeper insights into their current state of being and how this is affected by their environments and lifestyles. Through this individual and group reflection, participants are able to reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way and gain greater understanding of how they interact with the world around them.

“I know that vulnerability is the core of shame and fear and our struggle for worthiness, but it appears that it’s also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love.

-Brene Brown, TED Talk, The Power of Vulnerability.
